ADESA is pleased to host the 2024 ADESA Client Advisory Board meeting at The American Club resort on June 3-5. This year’s event will include informative, interactive sessions, engaging networking opportunities and tips to increase productivity and wellness. We’ll end this year’s session on Wednesday, June 5 with a fireside chat and open audience discussion with Carvana’s Ernie Garcia.

Ernie Garcia co-founded Carvana and has served as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer since Carvana’s inception in 2012. Ernie is also Chairman of the Carvana Co. Board. Prior to founding Carvana, Ernie held various roles at the DriveTime Automotive Group, Inc. from January 2007 to January 2013.
Prior to DriveTime, Ernie was an associate in the Principal Transactions Group at RBS Greenwich Capital from 2005 to 2006, where he focused on consumer credit based investments. In 2016, Garcia was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year in the Mountain Desert region for the consumer technology category.
Ernie holds a B.S. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University.
Mike Caggiano has served as ADESA’s Executive Vice President of U.S. Operations, since March 2013. In this position, he is responsible for leading the strategic development and primary business operations for the region.
Caggiano’s entry into the remarketing industry came in 1985 with a Massachusetts-based leasing company, where he eventually served as their general sales manager.
Caggiano joined ADESA Boston in 1996 as sales manager, where he was in charge of the auction’s dealer consignment sale. In 2000, he opened ADESA Concord, a greenfield site in Acton, Massachusetts, and served as the auction’s general manager. In 2007, he was promoted to regional vice president of ADESA’s Eastern region.
Caggiano is an active participant in the NAAA Membership Committee. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, New Hampshire.
John Combs serves as Vice President of Commercial Customer Solutions for ADESA. He leads the team overseeing national commercial clients related to all ADESA services to ensure customer success.
John has held several positions throughout his robust 30-year career within the remarketing industry, including executive sales director, auction general manager, and manager of remarketing for a major bank and a non-prime auto lender. John earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University Bloomington in 1987.
Tom Kontos is Chief Economist for ADESA. He makes frequent presentations to clients at automotive industry conferences. He is also often quoted in the trade and national press. Tom is author of the Kontos Kommentary, a monthly e-mail report and video on wholesale used vehicle price trends. He oversees an analytical services team that produces numerous value-added studies for clients and dealer customers.
In 2016, Tom was awarded the inaugural Ed Bobit Icon of the Automotive Industry Award by the International Automotive Remarketers Alliance and the National Auto Auction Association.
Tom has more than 25 years of experience in market research, financial analysis and strategic planning; and holds bachelors and masters degrees in mineral resource economics from Pennsylvania State University.
